Makeover...

A while ago I bought this mahogany sofa over the web. I was pretty disappointed when it arrived and tucked it away in a hurry. I forgot all about it until I yesterday received Frisonis beautiful book "Maison Miniature". I recognized the sofa on one of the pictures. which resultet in this makeover of my long forgotten piece...

  2. Sorry Sonya, but I had a laugh when I read your comment. I guess you mean mahogany and not monogamy ;0) That what happens when we write in a language that is not ours...

The book is in french, but it might as well be russian, because I don´t understand a word. I painted to coats of light grey, gave it a dark grey patina and the drybrushed with a bit of gold...

  3. Annie, your sofa turned out beautiful. Is the fabric of the cushions also printed on IKEA fabric? It´s very nice. Très bien ;-)

  4. Lara...This fabric is a heavier cotton that looks a bit like linnen. I love that it´s more structured that the IKEA-fabric. You can see the difference if you enlarge the picture. The cusion is IKEA...

  5. It looks really nice, I love the fabric - I really need to get that damn printer fixed.

Frisonis book is fantastic, there's so many fab ideas and I love the furniture instructions in the end, haven't yet tried any.

And I don't either understand almost any French, but you learn, you learn after reading like 100 times through the book trying to figure out how something is made. Good that there's so many pictures :D

Greetings from a smelly gas hazard area, one our dogs is having huge gas problems and the smell, well, it's eye watering :D

  6. I would say that was a real lucky not to have neither a refund nor thrown away: it is a wonder!
He's great with all the accessories that you had prepared earlier.
I also noticed that as I see new things my taste is changing and I get new ideas and stimulus also where first was scorched earth!

  8. What a great transformation. It's certainly an improvement. I have the book too (and I use google translator for the bits I'm having difficulty with!)

  9. Holy cow, that's an incredible transformation!

I don't dislike mahogany (love the monogamy thing :) thank God I don't have to write in any language but English :) but it's so hackneyed and trite when it's done poorly.

    Your makeover is astoundingly successful!

  11. The sofa is adorable! Great paint finish and fabric! I have to try the fabric printing thing - I've watched enough tutorials now it's time to take the plunge (although my husband will kill me if I break the printer). BTW, speaking of my husband, I used to dislike mahogany but he had some classic furniture when I met him and now I like both - mahogany and monogamy. ;-)

  20. Men can safely wear the cheap Pandora sporting patterns like golf clubs, hats and horses. These are all waterproof and never tarnish or corrode over time. Charms can be made from various materials but the most popular ones are gold and silver ranging anywhere from 14 to 24 karats.
